A huge thank you to our many members and supporters for joining us for year one. You have helped to sustain us financially, allowing us to move closer to our vision of a school district where alumni and friends of Grosse Pointe Public Schools look back, come back, and give back to support our school system in perpetuity.
With your help we have:
- Grown our membership base to over 300 with people participating from all membership levels (Individual to Lifetime).
- Secured the most recent Alumni Database for Grosse Pointe South and are looking forward to receiving the contacts for Grosse Pointe North Alumni in 2022.
- Celebrated with fellow alumni and friends during both homecoming parades.
- Hosted a bustling gathering at the Community Tailgate for the North VS. South football game.
- Honored our oldest known alumnus, The Honorable Thomas VanTiem from The High, Class of ‘49, with a ride in a 1919 Model T in the Annual Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Parade.
- Joined and participated in every Michigan Education Foundation meeting and earned one of our founders a position on the MEF Board of Directors.
- Collaborated with GPPSS to highlight the success of GPPSS alumni as part of our Alumni Through the Decades project.
- Welcomed aboard a volunteer professional writer, who has been authoring our alumni spotlights.
- Personally congratulated the graduating class of 2021 and welcomed hundreds of them as members.
- Added two additional Board Members to our team.
- Kept our subscribers and members informed with monthly newsletters.
- Inspired local businesses to join our efforts by offering member discounts.
- Assisted with class reunions.
- Spoke with countless community leaders to hear their ideas and share our work.
- Began The Generations Endowment feasibility study to learn how best to move forward in growing an endowment to sustainably support our school system for, well… GENERATIONS.
