To our many supporters, members, family, friends and the greater Grosse Pointe Public School community,
It is with deep regret that we announce the Board has decided to dissolve The Grosse Pointe Alumni and Friends Association.
Unfortunately, now does not appear to be the right time for us to continue on our mission. However, we do take some comfort in knowing that we live in a community in which there are a number of other excellent nonprofits that share our mission and are working to support The Grosse Pointe Public School System. We thank everyone who has, in any small or large way, joined us in pursuing this mission, and we encourage all of our supporters to research and consider lending their support — both financial and via volunteerism — to the organization that most closely aligns with their particular passion to support our students, alumni, parents and friends.
The Board of The Grosse Pointe Alumni & Friends Association still strongly believes that a privately funded endowment would greatly benefit all facets of our community and, in particular, The Grosse Pointe Public School System in perpetuity, and we have not abandoned the hope we share to someday see this come to reality.
Rest assured all donations that have been made to the organization have been tax deductible under 501(c)(3) IRS laws. All money that has been donated directly to the Generations Endowment and any remaining assets of The Grosse Pointe Alumni and Friends Association will be gifted directly to the Grosse Pointe Public Schools. As an all-volunteer non-profit, no individual has received, or will receive, financial compensation of any kind.
We are very proud of all that we have accomplished during our time as an organization and regret not being able to continue many of the wonderful activities we have participated in over the last four and a half years.
We would like to thank everyone who supported our cause, both near and far! Our belief that a strong public school system is the backbone of a thriving community has not and will not change.
